Anyone been to Circuit City lately? Good deals yet?

No only 10% at the moment. Just wait they will soon up prices and increase the discount ;-)

dubaudi1 01-22-2009 06:08 AM

NOT AT ALL!! And here's why...

All of the stores and their inventory are now technically owned by a liquidation company, not Circuit City. So what they're doing is leaving all the SALE signs up, but when you go to pay, you find out that the price is only 10% off MSRP, not the sale price which is usually lower.

I was there to buy a hard drive. The drive had a sign in from of it that read "SALE $79.99, regular price $129.99". So I get to the register and it rings up as $159.99. I'm like WTF? And the little grommet at the register says "it's 10% off that, we can't honor the sale price." So I said "well then why'd you leave the signs up morons?" I pulled some Chuck Norris **** and got it for $79.99.

Moral of the story, ask for a manager and be really loud and obnoxious. :)

KillA6 01-22-2009 06:31 AM

OH yea. I didn't even think about that. I think I have atleast 2 gift cards.

Time is against you. Hurry before Iraqi hard currency becomes more valuable.

KillA6 01-22-2009 06:35 AM

Your not kidding!

5speed6 v.2 01-22-2009 07:39 AM

Nope..everything is being handled by a liquidator, with no real idea of "street prices"..

..most of the items with the current "discount" is more expensive than a previous Circuit City sale price.

And by the time the discount will be at a level where an item will be worth buying, it will have been sold already.

KillA6 01-22-2009 07:49 AM

I think what you have to do is like what DubAudi said. Find a reason to bitch and get what you want.

5speed6 v.2 01-22-2009 07:56 AM

Definitely worth a try on a larger ticket item...after all...

..the whole idea is to "liquidate" the stock for cash. If they see they can move a product, I don't think they'd refuse an offer...within a reasonable amount.
