If the pothole wsa known to them for a certain period, 10 days as I recall, they pay, otherwise, no pay.

For NYS, try calling 518-457-1956. The number is the NYS DOT Claims Dept. If they can't help you, they will direct you to the proper local affiliate where your damage occured.
