Sunrise At The Cliffs 2008 (Pics and short writeup)...
 

Well for some of us the day started with a <a href="http://lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080407/NEWS02/804070341/-1/SPORTS">major accident</a> (no one from the drive) on the Sprain Brook, which held us up for over an hour.

Not that we were able to actually see the sun, but those stuck on the Spain Brook were there for sunrise which meant the Sunrise At The Cliffs concept didn't exactly work out.

After about an hour and 15 minutes, the local police decided to turn us all around so we could drive back the the previous exit and get around the accident.

Now some of us can say we legally drove the wrong way on a parkway.

When we arrived at the parking lot, at around 7:00am, I quickly collected waivers, cars got ready to leave, and we were on our way.

The great news of the day was that 218 was open for the drive and some people who have only been to one of the last two COI's finally got to see what it's all about.

We had a minor hiccup on one of our regular roads due to a closed bridge, but having such a small, controllable group it was easy to direct us around it. I always check all the roads the morning of the drive before I leave the house, but for some reason this closure wasn't listed.

B/c of the closure I decided to add another road that I hadn't planned on for this drive. It took a while to get there, but I think everyone thought it was worth it.

For me the best part of the day was that the roads, for the most part, were empty. Not many cars, people, bikers, etc. like we have at the COI. I'm not sure if it was the time of year or the time we departed (even with the accident, it was about 2 hours earlier then the COI).

So, I think it was a success and will most likely be doing it again next year. I might also do a sunrise run or two during the next few months giving only a few days notice to keep things small.

As you can see from the pics I had a video camera set up for the drive, but the footage didn't come out well at all. The color was completely off and I think it's time for a new camera.

I noticed this when we stopped at the Tuxedo Motel, I guess the fly tried to beat me across the road and failed:

I think the early departure time is the way to go and if u get something smaller going and can drag Ed out, u're all welcome to stay at my place so the early morning isn't so early. :p

It was my first time.
When I woke up my brothers that morning they said "this better be worth it"
after it was all over, they agreed it was haha.
