Default Looking to buy a portable MP3 player...what should I look for? Good places to buy? Features?

I don't know much about them...but basically I will use it for when I work out...and for listening to at work *when I can*. Do some of them load music faster than others? *stupid question* Can I use an I-pod if I don't have a mac?

Default I've owned iPod and Dell DJ. I like the iPod better by a slight margin but it is like $50 more

if i had to do it over again i'd buy the iPod over the Dell for $50 more.

Default I like...

this because of the price. It's bigger than an iPod though. However, you can use it as a regular drive to carry anything on. It also has a mic for recording voice memos on it. FM tuner is good too.

Which one is the smallest? I would prefer size over features...

Default iPod can be used a removable drive to if your interested in features

FM radio and voice recording you need to pay for add on's so taht adds even more to the cost of iPod.

Default 2 yrs. ago i had a creative labs nomad, they've upgraded since then.

mine was a 4gig drive, transferred via USB so it was damn fast. only thing about it was it used those stupid Nimh batteries that are recharge but they last like a day and a half.

Default rio carbon is size of a CC, costs $249 & had a bigger capacity than ipod.

i'd get it just not to be one of ipod fetishists ( even though i use apple computers only)
