The US Gov't might be strong-arming Toyota
at the behest of the Big 3 & UAW, but this is just WRONG!
The Audi is in for service and I get a loaner...a 2010 Camry(decent car). This AM I noticed that it had, OBVIOUSLY, had the floor mat repair done. You know...the repair that prevents the car from "uncontrolled acceleration"...RIGHT! If they fixed my car like this I'd be pissed...it looks like crap. Well, maybe it looks OK on a Camry.
DBW accelerator...probable source of problem.

Repaired driver's-side floor mat...nice job, Toyota!...jerks. Too cheap to spring for gray zip-ties? And what happens when someone wants to remove the mat for shampooing or to vacuum under it? Are they supposed to flip it over into the driver's seat to vacuum underneath it?...Or cut the ties to gain access and then return to dealer to have new ties put in place? What a mess this is. I'm glad I'm not mixed up in it.

Toyota is simply trying to blame it the cheapest solution they can find, the floor mat and a shim on the gas pedal. It will come back to bite them once people and the Feds realized these repairs will not fix the sudden accelaration problem. Whats next Toyota? are they going to zip tie the gas pedal so it wont go out of control?

Funny how the runaway Prius on the news yesterday had been brought in for the recall and turned away because that car wasn't suppose to be part of it. I don't know if Toyota is just trying to bury thier head in the sand with the floor mat "fix", but this is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better. Maybe they should divert some of the "I trust Toyota" commercial funding to finding a real fix?

The whole thing is out of control right now. There is another report today of a Prius in NY out od control running into a stone wall and another RAV4 suddenly surging into a medical building in MA. Some owners are telling the turth and some are not, but even if only half of them are being honest, that would be bad news for Toyotas for years to come. The funny thing is that there were still a lot of bargain hunters out there buying Toyotas last month. Is one's life less important than save a few bucks?

Its funny, as I watch the news last night with the report of the Prius incident in CA, right after the report, there was one of those I trust my Toyota commercials on the air. What bad timing for Toyota, I think they jump into those recovery commercials too soon. This whole mess have no signs of ending soon right now, if anything, its gaining steam.

My sister in law drives a Toyota highlander, she is in the panic mode right now, she use that SUV to transport her infants to day care and school. At 1st, I told her what Toyota say to do when the car surge out of control and that is apply brake, put car into neutual and shut off engine. Now there are reports coming out that hitting the brakes and putting the car into neutual might not work in some cases. I hate to tell her to shutting off the car in the middle of the highway with no power steering and no power brakes.

I think it was just a coincidence since Toyota have been playing these commercials so much. Honestly, I am not sure what Toyota is going to gain from flooding the air wave with the same commercial of actors saying they trust their Toyotas. Persoanlly, I will not be buying any Toyotas for a while.
