Default Advice for selling my used Audi

Hi,

I'm the original owner of a 2001 A6 2.7T with low miles (60,000).

I live in downtown Portland, and don't really use the vehicle (less than 50/miles a month these days). My girlfriend is moving in with me, and we have 1 parking space for two cars. So I need to sell the Audi.

I've never sold a car before. Through AutoTrader I have a quote to buy it for $4K. BlueBook says the private party value is $8,400, or the trade-in value is $6,900.

I've heard mixed results trying to sell the car through craigslist, etc... I don't have a lot of time to maximizing my value, but don't want to get ripped off. Does anyone have a suggestion for what the best way to sell it in Portland is?

Thanks for any advice!

-Jason

I've sold and bought a few cars on CraigsList. I typically use Edmunds as a price guide, which is typically a bit lower than Kelly. I price (or pay) a bit below Edmunds retail suggestion. The three I've sold that way have been gone with cash in hand by the first weekend (2-3 days and ~30 calls max). The worst experience I had was someone that test drove my manual transmission car that didn't know how to drive stick and called me when they smelled smoke (thank goodness). Fortunately no harm done, and I could have avoided that if I'd ridden along with them.

If you price it low but fair it won't be much of a hassle.
