Tamarind Tree - Vietnamese

Great mojitos too. there is also a little Vietnamese place around the corner from Tamarind Tree on the Jackson Street side call Tuhn Ve or something like that. Cheap and no wait. Tamarind Tree is definitely a wait.

2nd, but minus the wait...

It's located a bit off the street in a kind of low-key location. Definitely wasn't expecting it would be as good as it was when walking up to the entrance...

Re: Tamarind Tree - Vietnamese

Tamarind tree is one ofthe worst "vietnamese resturants" in Seattle. It is in no way authentic, and is no even that good. Yeah the decor is nice, the outdoor area is nice, the parking is a disaster, but that can all be overlooked if the food were good. Its not even close to authentic. I asked the waiter if they had bun thit nuong and he had no idea what I was talking about, one of the most prolific vietnamese dishes.

I say spend half as much, go across the street kitty corner to a much better place like Lemon Grass. Its not as dressed up but the food is authentic, or at least good.

If Tamarind Tree did it right, they woudl take some cues from a place in Mountain View CA, one of the best Vietnamese Fusion places, called Tamarine. I think Tamarind Tree tried to copy its style, but lost it on the menu.
