Have you ever seen a touring car WITHOUT sunk in rims? Come on guys.

I think you miss my point. 9" wide rims don't fit stock A4/S4 fenders real well...
 

... so unless the ET offset number is really high they would appear to "stick out" as opposed to "sunken in".
