Default new audi 4000 owner having struggles...

i have the 10vt motor in my audi 4000q...

It is REALLY struggling starting COLD and i dont know who else to go for this problem other than my homies on audiworld...

It hasnt nearly gotten better. it takes about 8 or 10 tries before it actually gets completely started up... itll crank over forever and the voltage is fine now... but it just wont start up!
The vac lines looked okay i thought... however there is a small crack in the airbox...

The odd thing is that...

1.) it runs FINE once its started. it warms up, stays warm... and runs really smooth and nice...
2.) once the motor is warm... i can turn it off and start it up easy... it doesnt struggle unless its cold!

whats the deal guys!?

a list of what to look for...?

Default Try these

<a href="http://www.humanspeakers.com/audi/index.html">
Huw's Audi Garage</a> lots of older Audi content
<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/4000/msgs/116861.phtml">
Post to wiring schematic</a>
<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/4000/msgs/53998.phtml">
Check the spare fuse</a>

Also I would try and check all your fuses. If I recall correctly, there are 3 fuses that run the engine management.

Might also be a coolant temp sensor too, but here's a start.

Search for hard starting in the 4000 forum. I went through this when I had my 4000 but I can't recall what it was.

Default There should be a sixth 'cold start injector' plumbed into the intake manifold.

It's controlled by a temp sensor on back of head that tells it to squirt for a few seconds during cold start. You could try a test light on the wire when cranking to see if it's getting voltage. If so, pull that injector, bag it and see if it actually sprays. It doesn't run continuously, just a short shot to get the motor going. Good place to start looking anyway. BTW, my bro has a 'just wrecked' 4k 10vt he may part out.

Default soooo...

im interested in the 4000.. id love to look for some parts

its probably the cold start injector... so just yank it out of the intake manifold and put a plastic bag around it and try starting the car?

so if the injector doesn't squirt is it most likely needing a new injector?

if only i had a test light with me!!! :/

jeff... thanks a ton for the help.

Default Yep... no squirt = injector or sensor. I'll look at my bros 10vt tomorrow to see if it's the same

as my non turbo. I'll also see if he's decided to part it or not. And yes I agree... those wheels are teh hotness on yur 4k.
