Default Review: University Audi Service

Some may know.. others may not. My window regulator decided to retire early on my car.

After some pretty terrible experiences at another local dealer, I decided to try my luck at University Audi. (My car is still under factory warranty)

I dropped the car off at 9am, and hung around the area. Once I realized my phone battery was about to die I figured it would be best to go back to the dealership to wait so that they could actually get a hold of me.

4:30pm rolls by, and I am informed of some bad news. They dont think they will be able to cover this under warranty due to the fact of where my cross over is located.

(You can see it in this picture)
<IMG SRC="http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/redgoat/Long%20Beach/IMG_0106.jpg">

So I went and talked to the service tech to try and figure out exactly why/how this would cause it to fail. He stated that it looked as if the screw holding the cross over on was interfering with the regulator.

After discussing it and looking deep into the matter, and to my surprise, he said "your right, it doesnt seem to be interfering but its very close. We will cover this."

I have to admit I was a little taken back by this. Usually a technician will make up there mind and not really care what you have to say or to be willing to correct themselves like that.

So I went back to the waiting area and hung out. A few minutes later the service adviser approached me to tell me that there is more bad news. They dont have the parts in stock and will have to overnight them on Monday to be here on Tuesday. Which was fine with me.

They then took the extra step and stated that they didn't feel comfortable with me driving around with a window that doesn't roll up, and asked me to leave the car there. Which was fine with me. I just needed a way to get home. They talked it over and decided to give me a loaner car until Tuesday. Which to me is kind of unheard of since I didn't buy the car there, and I haven't been a long time loyal customer.

So Tuesday I will go pick up my car. My overall impression with University Audi is AMAZED! I definitely know where I will be taking my car for factory service and "warranty" work in the future. I am pleased that they took the extra steps to ensure a first time customer is satisfied, and feels the same as a long time customer who is on a first name basis with everyone.

Thanks for reading. Sorry for the long winded post. I just feel that if I am going to give a bad review of a place that doesn't respect me or my car, then I should do the same for a place that does.

Default Did they make any effort to put things right when you pointed out the problem?

Mistakes happen to everyone -- what's important is how they deal with them.

As a college student at the UW I purchased my first Audi. I had them do the pre-purchase inspection, and was very impressed with the help they gave me. I ended up using them for lots of the service work on the car because of their great attitude.

I was particularly impressed when the service adviser told me about some upcoming work I would need. He explained the problem with the car, and then suggested that as a student that it might be more affordable for me to get that particular job done elsewhere, as it didn't take any particular Audi-specific knowledge. He even recommended the shop, which did fantastic work. I love University Audi -- they don't care whether I'm rich or poor, have a new car or an old one: they seem to really appreciate the marque. And that service adviser showed that they really care about their customers, something I've always felt there.

Barrier, on the other hand, treated me VERY differently when I showed up in my B5S4 versus my 1988 90 Quattro. With the B5 they couldn't wait to help me, right after showing me the latest models; with the 90 they gave me the impression that I wasn't worth their time.

As a kicker: It's University, not Barrier, who sponsors the local Audi Club driving events. Awesomeness!

Default If that is some tech's you're referring to...

I've been told they REALLY need techs. So possibly the ones you dealt with have been fired. Now the high demand for replacements.
