Default Something's up with the clutch...suggestions on a repair shop I ought to have the car towed to near

Madison Park? TIA

I was driving home going about 40 mph when I without thinking put it into 1st gear with the clutch still fully pressed. At that point, I heard a sort of clunk and couldn't put the shifter into any gear. I braked, pulled to the side of the road, turned off the car. Turned back on and could get the car into gear, but the engine would just rev and didn't move the car. Any ideas what might be up?

Default accidents happen, dude...

I had thought there was some barrier to doing that, but apparently not...?

Default In any manual I've ever driven the "barrier" was the massive resistance from the synchros

at any speed above about 8 mph. W/ my current A4 there is fierce resistance if you try to go into first at anything above about 5mph. I come to a complete stop before going into first about 99% of the time. I can't imagine even being able to get the car into first at 40mph.

Default I'm betting something w/ the input shaft and the clutch disk...

isn't holding together now. May have rounded the splines on the input shaft or the clutch disk.
