Toure De Olympique Apr 28-29 -2012 Olympic Peninsula AudiClubNW
Toure De Olympique April 28-29 2012
AudiClubNW introduces a new social/touring event for 2012. The Toure De Olympique is a 2 day driving tour around the Olympic Peninsula. The toure is open to all makes of automobiles; you don’t have to own an Audi to attend. Drivers may choose to participate in any portion of the event, Sat or Sun or both, as their schedule may allow. This is a family event, with an overnight stay in Forks for those who wish to attend the full weekend.
The toure will highlight drives along the Hood Canal to Sequim and Port Angeles, then along the Strait of Juan De Fuca to Neah Bay, the NW most point in the continental USA, as well as twisty secondary roads through the Olympic National Forest. Portions of the drive follow historic Highway 101, while other portions will allow drivers to enjoy scenic ocean views along the Pacific Ocean. The exact route is still TBD, and during the event, the route can change as group members decide what they might like to see during the weekend.
Time permitting, some of the lighthouses along the Strait and Pacific Ocean may be viewed and photographed. These include the Ediz Hook, Cape Flattery, Cape Disappointment, and Greys Harbor lighthouses. An optional portion of the tour will be a visit to Westport Light State Park and the new lighthouse museum located there.
The tour begins Saturday morning, going from Gig Harbor to Sequim, then west along the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Neah Bay, finally south to Forks for an overnight stay. Sunday finds the toure departing Forks, driving south along 101 and secondary highways along the Pacific Ocean, to Aberdeen and/or Westport, finally ending in Tacoma.
The event master for this toure is Mark Yonker. Drivers who have participated in last year’s toures should enjoy the route and scenery of this fun filled weekend. Questions, thoughts, or ideas of the event should be addressed to stratocruiserb377@yahoo.com or 253-670-8575.
Further details, including hotel reservations in Forks for those staying overnight are available on the AudiClubNW link below.
