Default Water Pump

2001 Audi A4 2.8L manual, took car in for an oil change and they said I need to replace my water pump. Any idea of how much this should cost? Their estimate was between $1,000 to $1,500. Looks like I need to keep the sleeping beauty in the garage until I get this figured out.

I appreciate any feedback you guys may have. Thanks.

No not yet. I was recommended by a few friends to a mechanic with great credentials that will charge much less per hour (end up being less than $500 for parts and labor), so I'm going that route in a couple weeks. I live in the Greater Seattle Metro area, which allows me not to be reliant on a car...thankfully it hasn't been a big hassle.
