Default That's kinda cool, but it might be nice to do something at a local venue, too...

For those of us who cannot justify the kind of trip proposed in the x-posted thread, but would like to join in the spirit of honoring Matt's enthusiasm. Not meaning to diminsh the intent of the proposed national event...just suggesting that the instance of one event, does not necessarily preclude another event. I'd guess most of the participant in the proposed event would be NorCal or SoCal Audi guys.

Default ACNW Quattrofest in February would be a good place to honor him

Quattrofest is moving to February anyway and the event is going to happen anyway. We might as well make it a tribute to him as well.

Dates at PRI are next to impossible to get so unless someone is willing to cough up a date it would be unlikely to have it there.

Default Well, Proformance does partner with clubs for track events...

The real problem with PR is that it is VERY difficult to get weekend club track day assignments. You can always work out a weekday track partnership with ProFormance. Local (official and unofficial) clubs do it all the time. One nice thing is that if you partner with ProFormance, liability is handled by Don.

As an aside: While weekends are tricky, holidays ARE available and I'd bet it would just need some coordination (Don Kitch held partner events with external groups on July 4 and Labor Day this year).

I doubt that this is the right forum for a such detailed discussion of the options, but partnering with Don (if he is amenable) could permit a possibly annual event that is fully dedicated to Matt's memory and a designated ongoing charitable cause -- rather than being tied to a club event and being a one-time instance.

Having a *specific* local track event would not preclude any other organization (like Audi Club NW) from honoring Matt in any way seen as appropriate. (As a purely selfish matter, I like dry track days, so February in Portland well, could be dry, maybe not. Summer in Seattle, higher probability of sun and for my participation.)

Having said all that, if ACNW wants to step up and dedicate an event to Matt's memory, that's certainly a gracious offer.

Disclaimer: I have no financial affiliation with ProFormance or any other club.

I would definately be in for a local event.

Let me know what I can do to help make this happen.
