IS THIS UNIT EASY TO INSTALL AND DO YOU HAVE TO PROGRAM ANYTHING?

No programming needed, instructions included. Fairly simple installation.

AND TO BE CLEAR WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR THIS AGAIN

Instead of buying the Audi Music Interface for $400-$500 to connect your iPod/iPhone this unit allows you to connect any device thru an aux cable and most importantly.... Keeping your cd changer in the glovebox. From what I've read with the Audi Music Interface you would lose the cd changer.

Ok Can you control like your song selections thru thIS module or you got to use the iPhone/iPod ?

I think you'd have to control the selections on your device. I'll double check when I get my car back from Audi service.
