"Lifter" noise/knocking Thread - - Not oil pressure.
The shop checked the oil pressure, I forgot what the numbers are... but they say everything is within spec - maybe even slightly higher than spec(!). Not sure if that's good. So, like the techs... I'm baffled. It's not an check valve near the oil filter neither, as they head thought. Can't be oil pump, if there is oil pressure, right?
So, it's almost safe to assume the engine is good. Is there anything I can do with a VAG COM to find out what's going on? If so, what should I look for? I'm going to try and find a bentley, to see if that'll help.
I've seen some posts about exhaust leak... could that be it? Or something (part of my turbo, perhaps?) getting loose in the exhaust side?
Thanks,
Cris

Bentley (Audi) used to be very specific about time intervals between install and first start-up when
lifters were replaced, among other things. Also, it is very specific about how lifters are stored (in oil, setting in a certain orientation). I doubt any of that changed when they went to the 5v head over the 2v and 4v stuff, despite new lifters.
Also, I think I remember reading that if oil pressure (in the head) was too high, the lifters would not be able to self adjust, and remain fully "pumped up"...That may have been in the Bentley for my 2v and 4v engines?
