Waiting for some piping to be finished up...
for the intercooler. Everything is wired up and ready to go. I am hoping the end of this week...but then again, I have said that for the last month.
Have ran into so many roadblocks. The last one was having to buy a CDI ignition unit, then to find out the newer style coils wouldn't work. So then switched over to the older style coils, to find out the valve cover doesn't fit. The shop now has all the parts. Just a matter of them finishing it up.
I will post an update as soon as the car is fired up.

Re: If it's not one thing....
John,
Hehehe...you said it. I've got a project car that's been getting an engine, suspension, and brake upgrade for a LONG time (1 year next week)...it seems like there's always something else Darin (the guy doing the work) and I find to do. We're getting closer now.
I think you and my car are in the same neighborhood (Detroit).
Regards,
Joel

Re: Yep, I'm in the Detroit area....
John,
The project car is an '88 Mazda 323 GTX. I bought it in 2001 for $1800 on ebay...and will have invested 10x that into it when it's done.
I'll be heading to Detroit on March 5 to look at at the car again (I live in central Iowa).
You know...Darin told me one time that a guy came in to his "day job" that had a yellow A4 and was doing an engine swap...maybe that was you?
Darin at Detroit Flexible Metal?
Regards,
Joel

Cool!!...
Darin's a great guy, and knows the GTX inside and out. The car is starting to come together and will be MUCH quicker than before. Next time you go in there, ask about Joel's GTX...he'll probably roll his eyes and say he can't wait until it's out of his hair. :-)
There's a small chance I'll be at the BBQ in March. I owned an 2000 A4 which I foolishly didn't purchase off lease. A week after I let it go, the GTX engine let go. So I quick bought an el-cheapo Protege (which I've grown to hate).
I might be able to locate an A4 before the 27th...if I can, I'll be down there. Maybe we'll run into each other...assuming no more head gasket issues from "Yellow". ;-)
Regards,
Joel
