Well..
Are you going for a 0-60 time or just trying to get the car to run fast off the line?
The reason I ask is that the gearing on this car is not the best thing for 0- exactly 60mph. I am not sure of the rev limiter on the APR chip but I can reach 60 in my car without going to third if I rev the hell out of it past 7000. If I shift to third I get a lower 0-60 time. I hate to rev it that high and normaly do not.
If you are just trying to get the car to run fast from a start it takes practice. I have that practice since I drag race..
If I am just going to the strip for fun I normal hold RPM at 3500 and gently drop the clutch while applying throttle. Carefull not to slip the clutch as it will not grab without lifting. Its a touchy thing. You want about a 1/4 second of slip. You goal is to be smooth. Try a low RPM first and then work your way up.
At the strip I do NOT lift when I shift if I am going for time. I floor the car at the start and do not lift until the end. I generaly shift at 6000. My car makes power to 7000 but it drops off past 6000. On a ko3 car I would try shifting at 5500-5700. I have just about mastered shifting like this through all gears. Its very smooth and is not "that" hard on the car. The first to second shift is the hardest one to get right. I have a real mental block on that first shift. Its REAL hard not to lift Everything tells me to lift but you must not if you are going for times. To give you an idea of the time difference here is an example.
A few weeks ago I went to the strip. I ran a few 14.5's back to back. I was doing a fast clutch shift on the 1st to 2nd. I was not going for the lowest time. Just having fun and testing. At the end of the night I speed shifted it through all the gears and ran a 14.301.
Hope this helps..

Blip it....meaning push the clutch in with your toe a little...don't sink your foot in too much.....
for too long cuz then your RPM's will jump into redline. Just do it fast. If the car breaks bring it back to Audi. =)

MC, I'd be curious to see your setup on an 01...they seem to rev forever so may...(m)
be able to pull 60 in 2nd. Your mods are impressive, and I hope to replicate them eventually on my 01, I suppose I'd then have an answer here.
As to the 1-2 shift, I find myself pulling toward me (slightly left), especially in the 'heat of battle'. I've pretty much traced the difficulty getting into 2nd to that (when I think about it and pull straight back, it is MUCH smoother). It's an unconscious thing to pull left...it just happens.
Oh well...my input for the day...
