1.8T oil grade recommendations
Audi's current oil grade and quality recommendations for my 2003 A4 1.8T (Avant) are SAE 0W-30, SAE 5W-30, or SAE 5W-40, VW 502 00, and ACEA A3.
I'm in Sacramento, California, where the weather in the summer is from 60 F to 110+ F, and the winter is 30 F to 70 F. The mountains are close by, so for ski trips, the weather can be probably 15 F to 50+ F.
My driving consists of about 85% city, 15% highway.
With that all in mind, is the 5W-30 or 5W-40 grade the right grade to use for year-round use, or would some of the other grades (15W-50 for example) be more appropriate? (Synthetic, of course) Or, would it be preferable to run different grades per season?

Not in my 99 b5, but I believe some dealerships in my area
were using it as replacement fill on the 00's and 01's.
If you're uncomfortable, just grab some mobil 1 5w or 10w-30.
Frankly, I'm trying Castrol Full Synthetic 10w-40 this weekend.
