12V V6 losing power away from a stop when cold, and also at high speed.
I have noticed that my 1992 Audi 100 Avant 2.8 12V Auto loses power when accelerating from a stop when the engine is cold. Now I have noticed a loss of power at high speed.
I was traveling on the A7 yesterday around 160 km/h. I accelerated up to around 180 km/h, and I felt the car start to lose power a little bit, like it was cutting back on power slightly. It happened when I was going up a slope, but I was not at (or anywhere near) WOT. This was repeatable, but obviously I didn't want to do it a bunch of times for fear of hurting the car.
The car also pings under hard acceleration at certain speeds (like merging onto the highway) so I wonder if the knock sensor is functional. I burn mid-grade (RON 95 octane, equivalent to 90.5 in the states).
Now, the two cases may not be related at all, but I wondered if there might be a connection.
I get about 22 MPG on the autobahn. 18-19 around town.
Back in October, I left the car with my mechanic for a month while I was gone. During that time I had replaced:
Air filter, oil filter, oil, fuel filter, timing belt, thermostat, water pump, serpentine belt and Spark Plugs, temp switch.
So therefore the things that have not been changed that folks suggest are the fuel pump sparkplug wires, and the O2 sensors.
Any ideas?
I have vag-com, but have not tried it on OBD I yet to see what errors there might be.

try running some mystery miriacle oil through the oil a couiple times..
it makes A big difference and cleans alot of stuff out of the engine my car feels soo much better now.. it had been running slowly plus you can put alittle in the gas it helps clean the injectors too
