13psi boost apr chip....possible help needed.
well, after some conversion from using vag-com tool to measure boost, it seems as though i'm gettin a max of 13psi boost (basicaly same as requested) at 3500 rpm, and slowly declining til about 5500rpms...
does this sound right for an apr'd k03 with lltek intake/supersprint exhaust? it was about 60degrees out with rain in central jersey....
i'm assuming that cause it was relatively cold, the ecu lowered the amt of boost....?jsut wanna make sure theres' nothign wrong with stock bpv (requested=basically actual boost) and there's nothign wrong with my apr (not sure of version)
if it IS too low- what could the problem be?! i mean, if actual boost= requested boost then the bpv=fine right?
please help=/

BTW, if you LLtek isn't properly shielded....
i.e. shielding from the frame rail to the padding of the roof, you are losing power with the intake.
And if the requested boost and actual boost are about the same theres a chance that you simply converted to PSI wrong. The car can limit boost in limp mode, but I've never heard of it dropping to an arbitrary number like 13.
Do you remember what the highest value you saw from the boost sensor in millibar was?

1910mBar=actual.....1920mBar= requested
i actually just cleaned the lltek filter-made sure heatshielding is all there. the current setup i have shows intake temps being about 35degrees celcius so whilst it's still quite warm, the heatshielding does work.
even if it didn't work, wouldn't the ecu tell the turbo to spin faster/request more boost??? (due to hotter temp)?
i'm banking on the theory that colder air (like i said 55-60deg f outside)= ecu tells turbo to boost less...though i'm no expert..and any/all help is appreciated.

boost alone does not tell the whole story.
mass air flow does.
lower boost, lower temp air flow
is better than
higher boost, higher temp air flow
boost is a coarse, at best, way of determining performance.

weird!
ok, did that this morning before my run to work. after i did it, i hooked up vag-com again and drove to work recording certain parts where i'd be boosting....
highest requested=1920 highest actual = 1900 - at about 55deg...same as yesterday...
funny thing was, in the start of the commute- the temps were about 10deg. lower at about 45deg...and i'm only boosting about 1880mBar

screw boost. LOG the maf sensor.

this is a plot of my maf with a clogged airbox prescreen. your max g/s at WOT should be between 170-180 for a chipped 1.8t. my boost log during these runs was perfect. boosting to 2bar(1 bar ambient + 1 bar boost) dead nuts. boost has little to do with how much air the engine is getting. log the maf.
