1991 80 5cyl airbox

Hello, I just got a 91 80 5cyl.

I was wonder why all that stuff was attached to the top of the airbox. And can I remove the airbox and install a cone filter of the black rubber intake to the throtle body. Or is all the stuff on top of the airbox needing the filtered air. Thanks

top of the air box is a regulator.

a cone conversion is taking out the air box, connect a adaptor to the mass air sensor with the intake.

"the stuff" is your CIS-E3 fuel distributor

ALL the air flow must go thru it.
