Default 2.8 vs 1.8t koni coilover ... spring rates??

anyone know how the 2.8 koni c/os will ride on a 1.8t? i've heard that some people are actually using the 2.8 c/o's on the 1.8t.

i know it would be harsh in comparison .. but is it wise?

what's the difference in the front spring rates?

just curious seeing that i cant get a hold of a set of 1.8t koni c/o's. =b

Default I'm using the Koni 2.8 springs up front on my 1.8t - they work fine.

I actually like them a bit better than the springs for the 1.8t. Koni is not publishing their spring rates, I asked them about this and even the guys at Koni NA don't know the spring rates.

The 2.8 springs work fine in the 1.8t. I also had the front bump stops cut down about 3/4" since the stock bump stops are huge on our cars and I was bouncing off the bump stops too easily at lower speeds driving around town.

Default They do publish....

but I gave up trying to understand German to find out what it means. But since the springs are progressive, some coils have lower spring rates than stock, some higher, the interface between the two will have a varying rate. So, a spring rate # on a progressive spring is deceiving and inaccurate. I think when I tried to calculate the numbers from their spec and how the spring compressed with the weight of the car, the 1.8T may be like 325lb/in, the 2.8 is 350lb/in average, static spring rate.

Default so .. my mileage may vary is what you guys are saying. =)

i think i'm going to take a short cut for now and go with just h&r sport springs.

what i REALLY want is the bilstein pss9 coilovers .. but who knows when theyre coming out for the a4. =b
