Default 2004-A6 FWD Transmission issue

Just got an 04 A6, 3.0 with 35k miles. Still has warranty. The issue is, I park on an incline, when i put the car in drive to take off, it rolls backwards a few feet and then hesitates to go forward. This is only on an incline. Called the dealer, he said it was normal for Audi. I am taking it in the shop tomorrow, just wondering if anyone has heard of this? ALso, when it automatically downshifts into first gear, it almost jerks sometimes. Thanks!

The transmissin you have is not only a front wheel drive, but a cvt" this stants for constant varing transmission" much like a snowmobile. this uses a main clutchpack much like a hydrolic verson of a manual transmission clutch. these transmissions are very sluggish and jerkey espically when starting out. the only time you should worry is if it shutters apon accelleration.

Thanks FIXITRITE! I appreciate the feedback. My concern is that the "OK" light that per the manual is supposed to come on every time you put it into gear does not. It comes on when you put it in reverse, but only a 5% of the time in drive. In the manual it states if the OK light does not appear, you should get a reason message. if not, then something is wrong. Also, when I first start it up in the morning, only when it is cold, it "clatters" for a few seconds. Does not seem like a normal thing for a car. It sounds like lifter clatter. Audi said it is normal. ONce the car is warm and you start, no clatter sound. Any thoughts? Thanks again!
