2014 RS5 Differential Replacement

Need some advice. I have a low mileage 2014 RS5 (14K). I started hearing some noise in the rear upon acceleration (buzzing to a whistle at higher speeds and then buzzing again on the low gear automatic downshift). Took the car into Audi dealer and they are telling me I need to replace the rear differential ($8,500 !!) Can anyone offer any advice as to why this would have happened? The car is obviously out of warranty at 5+ years old, but it only has 14K miles. Dealer says its a non-serviceable unit and must be replaced entirely. My concern is that it only has 14K miles and I don't know how this happened. Dealer Service Department says they have never seen this before. Is this just a lemon? Do I replace the differential? Do I have any other recourse?
Ugh!

Update on my rear differential issue. I reached out to Audi America and they will not stand behind the part. The car is out of warranty, I get it. But not offering any assistance on replacement on a nearly $8,000 part that has seen less than 18,000 miles sends a really bad message to Audi owners everywhere. I have checked around and the dealers in my area have not seen rear differential failures on the RS5. Neither the dealer nor Audi could say why the part failed. They suggested that low mileage could be the reason. So what Audi America is telling me is that when you drive a car less than 4000 miles per year, you can maintain it properly, comply with all the scheduled maintenance intervals and never abuse the car it is perfectly reasonable to expect that the rear differential can fail and you will be burdened by an $8,000+ repair. Please tell me how that makes sense and how they can expect that kind of response is good for business? "Truth in Engineering" MY ASS!
I have owned 6 Audis over many years and have always been a big fan. I guess its time to find another company that will stand behind their automobiles.

Now days NO ONE car company has good mechanic , its all about to replace all or no fixing as could be just some bearing got dry and they dont wona put that many hours to fix it much easier to replace it .
