5 point seat belts: Best setup for Audi?
I've been shopping around for these, & I'm wondering which setup to go with. Individual bolt in or Y type is what my question comes down to. I know to make sure about NHRA/IHRA compliance, and want to get the cam-lock style latch. Who's got what, & would anyone change to something else?

considering this harness

Do you have a harness bar, rollbar, etc?
I've got camlock 5pt sabelts (3") ($100 at racer wholesale) but you will need some sort of bar to attach it too.

5 pt belt w/o rollcage is a deathtrap
If the car is to roll, and the roof caves in, the 5pt belt will keep you where you are and get your head crushed.
If you have a normal 3pt belt, then you can be pushed to the side in the event the roof caves in.

I don't encourage harnesses without a rollbar/cage
but it's your car/life... at least get a harness bar, so that the angle on the harness won't be more than 45 degress (from shoulder down to attach point)

Here's my Stable Energies harness bar....
Granted... I am risking my life if I happen to roll over...
Anyway, an easy install, minor cutting of the interior liner of the trunk, but only on the 2001. The bar keeps the Sparco 3" harness up to the correct level, right thru the openings on the Sparco Milano seats.

I think Stable Energies also has a rollcage, not quite like Liam's, but still good

Are the roofs of Audi's that fragile?
I wouldn't think so, but I've never seen the result of an Audi rolling over. Even one step further, I've only even heard of one rolling, & that was at a track. The risk of a rollover seems about the same as being submerged in water. Unless you factor in the way we drive....
Thanks for everyone's input. I'm dropping the idea for now, until I'm ready for some type of roll cage setup.

Well, if you aren't going to the track, why do you need harnesses?
stock airbag + 3pt seatbelt is enough..
I don't have my stock steering wheel (no more airbag) anymore so I actually use my 5pt on the street, although it's illegal.

Liam
