Best operational number for *lowered* A4
Anyone have a "street wise" number for how much I should lower my A4 from stock? I have seen some here lower their cars 2-3 inches, which is too much for my casual performance driving. I definitely don't like to 4WD look of my car today, but don't have a great deal of experience in the geometry of steering and performance. I have Koni coil-over suspension installed this week, but I can't determine how low to go. Any advice w/good intent is welcome, thanks! Current setup is 17" Tubolare's on 2000 2.8Q.

1.5-2.0 lower than stock is effective and pretty safe.
1.5" lower is actually where you end up with the Audi Accessory sport springs (often called Eurosport springs on this forum). This is really pretty conservative. You can get into some minimal rubbing from the front when cornering over bumps or out of dips, otherwise it is fine with firmer than stock springs in terms of bottoming out.
2.0" is more agressive looking but gets you closer to the bump stops which make be unacceptable for some poor roads.
Also, the car when level can look like the rear is down because the rear wheel well lip is a little lower than the front. This is more of an appearance thing and more obvious as you close the wheel well:tire top gap. Some folks will choose to not lower the rear as much as the front by .25-.5" to compensate.
