A6 2.7t chips w/ tiptronic? How much can the automatic transmission take?
#2
NO one knows the exact figure
Most chips out there produce 310hp with 360lbs of torque. WIth the Tip I have heard 319lbs is what it may be rated at... No backup for this figure. If you figure some engr fluff in that number you may come out to ~ 350 lbs rated. AMS in Costa Mesa has determined that the Tip can handle 300lbs of torque. They have come out with a chip that is 310hp and 300 lbs torque. Check the search function in the A6 or S4 forum, it may have something to do with a seal?? I do not have any performance figures yet with the AMS chip but might have some within 2 weeks. Someone by me has that chip and we will use a Gtech to get some base numbers. Another person has the Giac chip and we can compare the numbers.
The good thing about the Giac chip is that you can marry it up to the Giac Tip chip which is the only Tip chip that speeds up the shifts. Gtech times for the Giac ECU and Tip chip are
0-60 6.08
1/4 14.42 avg
These are Gtech times but may be close to real numbers. Stock A6 2.7T I ran at Pomona ran 15.1-15.2. SO a reduction of .5 to .7 is very reasonable with this combination of chips.
Will find out later while at Carlsbad.
