Default Aftermarket cams for 1.8t, has anyone tried them?

I have a set, and was wondering if anyone wanted to try them and see what they can get out of them.

Default What kind of cams?

Schrick? Piper? Cat?

I've always wondered what kind of power they could produce.

Default Re: I still say WHY?

stock cams are proving to be pretty awesome all around. They have proven to be able to flow plenty and not a restriction. I have yet to see one post where cams actually made power beside a few ponies right at 7000RPMs. The area under the curve gets butchered greatly. Heh not to brag I made 400whp on stock cams and head...sorry I just dont understand all these cam posts. It would be awesome if they helped out a lot but it appears people loose power and get a pretty jerky car that dies at idle. It kinda sux but the stock cams seem to be the best on the market, there doesnt seem to be any cams out there that are actually making some real power. Almost seems like cams are a lost cause but somehow someway someones gotta figure it out and make a set of cams that actually work, untill then stock cams all the way imho!

Default And on the flipside....

I haven't seen anyone actually do before/after test to show how much the RPM curve actually changes.

Alowing more air to enter is always a good thing, but I bet it takes proper programming to take full advantage, just like adding a bigger turbo does.

Having a large TB would probably help a lot more with cams than a small TB, since the TB is the next restriction in the chain.

Default I am not quite sure, I will ask and get back to you.

Is there a mark or anything like a serial number on them that I can check?

Default I don't know....

there could be a part number on them, or you could try measuring the lift and compare it to the ones listed on the website

http://www.catcams.be/index.htm
