Alcon owners...
What would be a fair price for an Alcon B-type kit with Alcon rotors (13" preferred)? I heard the Alcon rotors last much longer than the Colemans do. Also, is this 2-piece or 1-piece rotor? Anyone know price differences?
I'm saving for these but need to know anyone out there who's got these, what did you pay?
Thanks!

Here are my colemans

As you can see, the slots are actually being worn down after 5 months of hard use with race pads. A typical kit would be between $3,200 and $3,600. Not sure about the price on Alcon rotors. Thay are 2 piece rotors.

rotor longevity
Corey's car formerly ran B-types with Coleman rotors (heavy duty, directional vanes). During the time that we ran that setup, we probably went through 4-5 sets of Colemans. Some lasted quite a while, though I remember one pair that seemed warped from day one.
On my S4, we run Alcon 6-pots on Alcon rotors (slotted with directional vanes). I'm on my second set of very pricey rotors.
One thing you have to be aware of is to mate your rotors and pads for their intended use. My first pair of Alcon rotors wore in a matter of months (mind you this car is driven harder than most S4s you'll encounter) because I was having trouble sourcing the right pad compound for intensive (but low temp) autocross usage. Having now found that, I'm getting excellent wear on my rotors. An interesting thing about the first set though: despite wearing down quickly, they never warped. Whether that is due in part to their metalury or construction, I'm not sure, but I bet its a bit of both. In any case, getting the right pad compound is important; don't try to run an "all purpose" pad for both street and track, for example.
So, yeah, in the end, you can get a more hardy rotor out of Alcon, but it'll cost you quite a bit more than Colemans. Depending on your use, it may still be more cost effective to buy Colemans, turn them after a while and when you can't turn them anymore, simply buying another set.

TDL racing has them 3375.00 ...........
for "B" types with coleman 13" rotors. The Alcon rotors are better(tend to last about twice as long), but the Coleman replacement cost is a little less than 1/3 the cost of the Alcon. 150.00 vs. 470.00 on Alcons last I checked. Prices are also per rotor, so you initally spend about 600+ more on your kit to push the cost into the 4k range.

Thanks
Good info. I did hear from a fellow who has a kit and he said that he originally had the Colemans but upgraded to the Alcons and they've lasted far longer. He felt they were well worth the extra money and that's why I was asking on price.
I've read the Alcon site and they have a lot of pluses in the manufacture of their product that I think provide the non-warp issue you mention.

I prefer
to get the Alcon rotors. Cost for a higher quality product is preferred because I'm a hard driver and I think the S4 is probably too heavy for the Coleman. I know Colemans are used a lot for some racecars such sa Trans Am but they are lighter than my stock S4 and they're throwing them away after every race.
Is the Alcon B-type + 13" Alcon rotor kit something TDL carries? Is TDL the new Alcon Audi market dealer now that Vortrag is no longer? I was going to get them from Vortrag but I know they closed shop.
Thanks.

Hello,
I've looked at your website and contacted some distributors about where I
might purchase an Alcon kit for my Audi S4.
Most of the company names are companies who sell to other companies. Do you
have a list of companies that sell your products to the public and more
specifically, for an Audi street car?
Thanks in advance,
Jim N.
