Any ideas as to why I would be getting ignition timing retardation?
My problem is I am loosing boost when I do a highspeed run while going through the gears.. Im not sure if the ignition timing is the exact cause for me loosing boost, but I figured I should check up on it..
As I was getting on the highway in 4th gear, I went wide open throttle, and after shifting into 5th at 5800rpms boost dropped to 10psi.. The green line is engine speed plotted against time, light blue is ignition timing, while yellow, pink, dark blue, and purple are ignition timing retardation.. Im thinking about installing a boost controller BUT before I do that I need to find out exactly why boost is dropping.. If its because Iam spiking too high then fine, BUT I I don't think that is the cause of me loosing boost..
Tonight Im going to do a few vag runs one with boost vs ignition timing, and I will also check up on the knock sensors..
Any ideas why I would be seeing timing retardation with 94 octane? Im running the x-chip with no other mods and I always use 94 octane.. Ive been trying different gas stations but no matter what Im still loosing boost.. Ive installed different N75 valves, Ive also tried a different exhaust, and different DVs but no matter what I still loose boost.. Im going to get some race gas tonight to see if that eliminates the problem and if it does I was just wondering why that would be? If it is my car then what could it be? If its the chip, then what could it be? thanks

That program is too advanced for your cooling capability right now.
You need to burn more efficiently, 100 octane will do it, along with WI and a FMIC. Remember this winter when you put 105 in and it ran perfect?
Find another chip, I thought you were going Revo?
By the way, Rod crashed his car. Should I buy his motor? ;-)

what about intake temps?
timing will be retarded at higher intake temps.
you can also datalog the N75 valve, if the frequency remains the same (or close) after the shift, then it could be a mechanical problem, but if it's not close, then the ECU is causing the problem (for whatever reason)
Even better if you can log requested boost vs. actual boost. If the requested boost is low, then the ECU is dropping the boost for some reason.

This is another highway run that caught the problem..
Requested and actual boost..
This run started in 2nd gear and I ran through each gear going WOT.. After my 4 to 5th gear shift.. Boost dropped.. The red line is the RPMs, the x-axis is time, blue is command, and yellow/orange is IC/actual..
