Default Any MBC suggestions (cheap ones)?

This is for a bone stock 2003 Jetta 1.8T owned by my girlfriend. I'm not going to spend the money on a chip b/c it would be a waste, so I think a solidly built manual boost controller will have to do. I've got access to a VAG tool for onboard data logging purposes. Any ones that you'd suggest? I've heard the Hallman unit is popular via the post below.

Default Considering the primary driver, it would be for this car.

I'd be surprised if she has ever dipped deeper than half throttle.

Default On Ebay you can find some good ones for cheap, but...

MBC alone won't really help you. You'll quickly encounter throttle cut from overboosting if you don't clamp the MAP sensor.

If you are looking for an easy way to get more performance, go with the chip. Manual tweaking is NOT an easy thing to do on these cars (can be done, but not nearly as easy as a chip).

Default need a chip to take advantage of the MBC...

VW/Audi dont define the air fuel table enough to run just an MBC. You could squeeze out maybe 11psi before you head off the chart.

Default Screw it...staying stock then.

I hate this DBW engine. Put your foot 1/4 way down and the damn thing takes off like I had floored my old non-DBW. The rest of the car is junk anyway. Says alot for VW's Mexican build quality.
