Default Is this the one where some fuel and air is dumped on the exhaust manifold to spool up the turbine?

Or something like that?

Default Lots of fuel, and retard the heck out of the timing.

I'm guessing it dumps in fuel, and as it flows out the exhaust, the retarded timing ignites it to spool the turbo.

Default Hyundai rally cars use (or at least used to) an injector to spray fuel to the turbo...

could a rebuild every month or so on the turbo might be a touch extreme.

Rumor is Garrett is looking at electrical assist turbos.

Cheers,

Default Yup, rally cars use this trick but they can afford the exotic extreme temperature ceramic turbine...

wheels. But they still change their turbo every race.

Default The nice part is most cars made mid nineties and up spark the plug when the exhaust valves are open.

dual spark hence these days there is one coil (primary coil) connected to two plugs (two secondary coils) so that while one fires the combustion stroke, the other fires another piston's exhaust stroke 360 degrees away to help clean up air. Unfortunately dumping more fuel may just wet the intake manifold and behind the valves as it is closed :P
