Default any tig welders here? know how to stop this....

you weld pipe to a flange from outside of the pipe. when you look inside of the pipe, you get these "pimples" along the lines where the tig went through from outside.

sorry there is no pic. anyone who had similar incident know how to get rid of these "pimples"?

i am thinking maybe i am running too much heat and since the pipe is 18gauge... i don't mind these along the exhaust pipes, but definitly not on the intake pipes.

gimme some feedbacks if anyone knows what i am talking about.
thx.

Default You moving too slow

Once you get the puddle going you have to move at a pretty decent tick to keep the metal from getting molten all the way through. Just takes practice more than anything I think.

What kind of material? Al?

Default agreed....

move the bead faster. You want good penetration, but you don't really need a through weld on intake pipes...you just want something that seals.

Default the alternative solution...

is to back the weld with gas to prevent oxidation. then grind the back smooth with a dremel.
