anybody here run a K04 with a GIAC chip intended for orig turbo (K03)?

What are the implications on this setup?

The implications are that you're wasting money on the K04 without the right chip.

By doing that, you are not utilizing the full potential of the KO4...

Re: Running a K04 with GIAC K03 software...

...your EGTs (thus engine compartment temps) will be lower than with K03 as the K04 compressor wheel will be moving more air with each revolution. Also, less exhaust energy required to turn turbine wheel because it has a steeper pitch.

You'll also experience the ~5200-5300rpm (or wherever it is on your chip) boost "rollback" engineered into the chip. A nice ~15HP (some say 25HP but that's exagerated, IMHO) increase from ~2K to ~4.5K rpm though.

If most of your driving is done below 5500rpm, I say go for it!

Just dont go wot with a K03 chip running a K04 turbo, because the chip will run on a set fuel map

and the car will run too lean causing the EGT's to go up more then you want.

So stupid....

why the hell are people doing this?It is soooo stupid. There is basically NO point to go to K04 without changing the software.

I have a K04 and drove for the day on K03 software and it wasn't that great at all. Not much difference. THIS IS SO STUPID. YOu drive a nice audi, WTF are people thinking. My car didn't ride that great and I realized engine=$$$$ so I wouldn't run the K03 chip.

If you aren't gonna do it right, just pass on it.

THe K04 chip makes BIG difference.

GEEEOOOSSHHHHH...
