Default Anybody know the procedure for rebuilding a Forge BPV?

I took mine apart just to check it out, everything looks OK.

Looks like all I have to do is grease it up, I just don't know what type of grease to use.

Also, does anybody know the full story on the so-called upgrade kits? Mine is about 1 1/2 years old.

Default I think the TX crowd was getting some sticking on the old valves due to heat...so they contacted...

Forge, who wasn't aware of the problem because I guess they don't get the heat that we do here. So they upgraded the piston and O-ring I think...I'm drawing a blank for the name, but it's a material that withstands higher heat. I don't have one, but I was talking to LCP who apparently was one of the people that was getting the initial sticking.

As far as lube I have no clue=P The new Strat HyperBoost valve says it uses Mobil 1 synthetic grease and it seems very similar to the Forge...so maybe? It has different internal materials though.

Default i used some mobil-1 synthetic grease

you have to use a grease because oil will cause sticking

Default Parker Super O Lube

Silicone based synthetic lubricant good up to 400 degrees F and designed to hold vac. If you have the valve apart and you put the piston in the housing you should be able to hold a vac by plugging the end up and then trying to pull the piston out. It should suck back up into the housing when you let it go.

Any O-ring distributor should be able to get you some of that super O lube stuff....it works awesome!

Default About the piston upgrade....

I got mine from strat and I just called them up and said my valve was leaking and requested they send me the new aluminum piston. That should be all that's required. YMMV depending where you bought it from.

Default Will you take some pics while it's apart?

I've got a Forge valve as well, been on for probably a year. I've been thinking about taking it off to clean it / inspect it, as I wondered if it might need the "piston upgrade." Thanks

Andy

Default Sure, there's not a lot to it...

just a spring, o-ring, and a blue piston.

I assume the upgrade kit just has a new piston.

We'll see.
