anyone with actual "expierience" with U/D pullies on the A4 1.8t?
i have heard lots of speculation & accounts from people who have used them on other cars, but has anyone here actually tried them on an A4?
looks like they make a flywheel for DBW cars also <ul><li><a href="http://www.unorthodoxracing.com/audi_a4.html">http://www.unorthodoxracing.com/audi_a4.html</a</li></ul>

A lightweight flywheel and underdrive pulley is a bad combo.....
If you look at the factory pulley, you'll see it also functions as a dampner. The dual-mass flywheel does the same as well. By removing both, there is no dampning for the crank vibrations. I think this is what caused Carace's motor to fail.

I agree, IMO even running a UD pulley with a factory flywheel is a bad idea.
This is true on any car. The stock pulley dampens out the torsional vibration. To me it's not worth the extra 7 to 10hp.

Actually I always had at least one on. First I had
stock flywheel with the underdrive pulley. After may rebuild I had light flywheel with stock pulley/damper. My problem was a conn. rod bearing. In the end I just put the blame on a suspect oil pump and the abuse I had put on the motor(high revs). I really do not know for sure though.
