i'm considering doing it myself with the help of my car crazed friend (dustysa4).
how long did it take? youre not a mechanic are you? hehe.
any advice would be great.

hmm.. I'm no mechanic and I installed it.....
Would I do it again....hmm... After it was installed I told myself, hell no..
But I am when I send in the turbo for wastegate revision. Which you won't have to do, since you'll get it already.
In all reality, it's not that hard. But the major hang ups are oil feed line to the turbo, manifold bolts, ubolting turbo support near a/c, tightened cat to exhaust.
To get a general idea, start looking at these things on your car. See what you think?
And carefully routing your vaccum lines to prevent shearing them on the fan
If you want more info email me at

I'm sure I left some things out. And I'm sure some other people that upgraded their turbo's will chime in.

Yup, was an excellent decision
With that level of modification to a car, I think you either need to know your car well or have a mechanic you know very well. Knowing your own car is much cheaper.
The install isn't that hard, but it is a bit time consuming. Even if was only a $500 install, I would do it myself. Unless I could have APR do it. If I was nearby APR, I'd let them do it because I obviously trust them.
If you're in SoCal, I'd be willing to help you out, and you can always email one of us and ask those pressing questions, like 'how do I get to that damn bolt.'?

well .. i'm certainly encouraged now. =)
after speaking to apr houston (i am NEVER GIVING him my business again).. i'd pretty much decided to do it myself. hell .. i'd rather drive to apr HQ than go back to apr houston.
i'm a pessimist but pissed off enough to do it myself now. haha. dustin's (dustysa4) gonna help .. he's more excited than i am .. heh. we figure 3 days should be plenty of time even if we get drunk and take off the intake manifold by accident. =b
i've never attempted this level of work on a car before, but i'm pretty handy and not afraid to get my hands dirty. i browsed apr's new install manual a few months ago. very impressive. pictures and everything! ahah. in anycase .. it'll definitly be an educational experience. =)
i'll take you guys up on the offer for help. i'm SURE i'll be bugging one/all of you at one time or another. =)
thanks a lot .. you guys rock. looking forward to joining the stage3 forums. =)

Hint of the day...
Note which connection goes where on the N75 valve. It has three small air hoses and an electrical connection. If you get them backwards, you'll have some problems. Save yourself some grief and use some masking tape and a sharpie and label it when you take it off.
Also, have a Sears closeby
Good Luck.
