Anyone ever had an ECU go bad?

Re: Anyone ever had an ECU go bad?
I've seen them go bad, yea. Mostly saw the dtc for "check sum error", which means bad ECU. Other things gone wrong is from the ECT, leaking coolant into the connector, which allows coolant into the wiring harness, and eventually draws the coolant back to the ecu connection(like a shoestring in a glass of water). You can imagine what happens then.....

Yea. On my stock Ford Expedition
The A/C started blowing hot air. Turns out that the ECU, or PCM (Powertrain Control Module) in Fordspeak, also controls the A/C. BTW - The PCM cost $472.

Mine just went. It wouldn't start. It cranks, but no fire.
Of course it went at Streets of Willow, 2 hours from home. After I prepaid for two track days and motel rooms. Twenty miles on a flatbed to the nearest VW dealer who wouldn't look at it until Monday. Two round trips from Anaheim to Palmdale.
Oh, uh sorry, you wanted to know about symptoms?
Nevermind.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...
....Carey I experienced my issue shortly after accidentially splitting the front O2 sensor ground wire. It has sense been replaced along with the EVAP canister and ICM.
I followed the Bently to diagnose the issue. The wiring diagram feeds and step by step voltage draw downs pointed me to the MAF. I ran the multimeter across it and the leading voltage is too low. Must have shorted the feed after splitting the ground. The MAF threw off the EVAP system, both O2 sensors, and hence fuel delivery. I am thinking it is a wiring harness short because I am getting grounding codes all over the place along with electrical malfunction codes.
Pulled the ECU soldering is visibly all good..........as well as it ran good for almost a year.
I am dealer bound and holding my breath......second mortgage to pay for this one...J/K
