anyone have any BIRA system 2 brackets they want to sell? (A4-S2)

please let me know. seeing is that i don't think there are too many people asking for these brackets right now, i thought i would check here for some brackets or alternatives. i'm already a member so it's not a big deal to transfer ownership.
thanks

they seem like they might work......

the bira system 2 brackets are for the 996 caliper not the "big reds" off the 993TT so i'm not sure if they would work. (sorry i should have been more specific.) there is quite a big price difference between getting the 993 kit together vs the 996. i spoke with warren there (rpi)and he wasn't sure if they will work on the 996 caliper. anyone know if there is different offsets between the 996 caliper and the 993 TT? i'm assuming there is. thanks for the info. it's definitely an alternative, but an expensive one. they sell just the brackets so i could just get em and see if it'll work.

I don't know what the cost difference is, but the 996 calipers can be had

for about $450 for the pair... or less... there is as lead in the bira files section (I am a member too)

I built my 996 kit on my A4 for $1250 with street and track pads and stainless lines front and rear...

996 & 996TT have different calipers.

The ordinary 996 caliper is just like the Boxster fronts, and will bolt up to the same bracket as the 993tt calipers bolt 2. I have the OEM Audi RS2 caliper brackets, which were designed for the 993tt caliper, and I have phusically bolted 996 calipers to them. However 996TT calipers will not bolt up, as the 996tt caliper bolt pattern is wider.

The other problem, is the spacing the caliper bracket places the caliper, in relation to the rotor centerline. This is why most caliper brackets are specifically designed for a specific caliper & rotor combination, on a specific hub.

thanks for clearing that up......

i thought both the 993tt and 996tt were different bolt patterns from the 996 caliper.

that's the kit i'm trying to do on my coupe but.......

the brackets are not readily available.

skabaru 08-04-2004 04:22 AM

that is the killer...

I had intended to use bira, but time was as factor, so I ended up at evoms.com... although I don't know if they have the brackets for your setup...

skabaru 08-04-2004 04:26 AM

actually...

the straight 996 caliper is the same as the boxster S caliper. The normal boxster caliper is smaller...

so there is the:

boxster (monoblock)
boxster S/996 normal caliper (monoblock)

then there is the older 993TT caliper (2 piece caliper)

thanks for the help skabaru......

that is exactly the same kit i have together minus the bira brackets. 996 caliper over the B5 S4 rotor right? they are interchangeable between the A4 and the urquattro. thanks for the link. much appreciated
