Default Anyone have G60 calipers?

Just wondering if anyone has tried the Girling G60 brake caliper upgrade from Blaufergnugen. If so, how do you like them?

The single piston A4 calipers work just as well. Look at better pads, maybe slotted disks.

Default Heavy bricks (more)

IMHO, the G60 calipers are not worth it- the massive increase in unsprung weight will not be good for your handling.

Also, the G60s are old calipers- you're better off doing a brake upgrade to BIRA system 1 with modern monoblock calipers- better caliper stiffness, nice 4-piston setup, better modulation.

Default As a current A4 and G60 owner...

...I would say it would not be worth it. The brakes arenot all that spectacular onthe G60 and it is a lighter car. But if you would like to try it, I am selling my G60 so buy the brakes and get a car.

Default I would not expect much improvement.

They may feel grabbier because the brake bias will be shifted noticeably to the front. However, overall braking power of the car would be reduced because you would not be getting as much work out of the rears.

G60 = model designation of Girling calipers, not VW car/motor/supercharger.

Default Try one of the A8 upgrades available...

Bigger front rotors (U.S.-spec A8, get them slotted if you can), different mounting bracket, uses your existing A4 calipers, and therefore, existing master cylinder. Add stronger lines, good brake fluid, and some good pads (I use Hawk Carbon/Kevlar, very happy), and you have a very cost-effective upgrade. AND fits in a 16" wheel.
