Default To anyone who has experience clamping the MAP sensor...

I just bought a split second VC2 adjustable voltage clamp to avoid the throttle body closing over 1.4 bar and I'm wondering what voltage I should set it to clamp at. I read over on the vortex that the MAP is going to be controlling my timing so I am a little worried about doing this by guessing and checking. Does anyone know a good place to start at? The clamp is adjustable from 2.5v to 6v and I'm assuming the MAP sensor is maxed out at 5v. Thanks for any help.

Default I would start around ~4.7v and go from there...

Make sure you're vagging the 02 sensors and timing correction. For safety, a splash of 100 octane might not be a bad idea.

Default You want something close to what your chip is tuned for.

This way you keep the car from throwing deviation codes. If your running a chip that is tuned for 20psi then cap it off 4.7v. That is exactly where I did mine at.

Default You need to clamp the MAP sensor so that your throttle plate doesn't close under...

boost levels above what the chip expects

Default to DBW guys, you've already clamped your MAPS?

damn, i guess i've been out of it for a while. Does it help? I'm boosting 20-25psi on my '01, and dont have a SS clamp. Think i'll need it?

Default How does your 01 run when it hits 25psi?

The throttle body could be closing when you go over 21psi, but you wont notice it on the boost gauge since your measuring inside the manifold and the plate is not 100% closed and the boost wont drop on the gauge but the power will drop off.

If your not sure if it is closing, then you want to use a vag and log block 054 during a high boost run of 3rd gear from 2K-6K rpms. If block 054 says anything other then 100/100 then your throttle plate is closing, most of the time when it does it will say the throttle pedal load is 100% and the throttle plate is 40%.

Default no kiddin... i'm goign to have to keep my eye on the VAG

I have been fiddling with my EVC4, and lately it's been spiking to 25 psi and settling down to 21 psi. (I initially thought it was holding at 25) A bit strange because with the EVC4, it used to never spike... then later throught out the year, it started spiking. Wierd. Possibly a tiny leak in the vac lines?

Anyway, i'll keep a lookout for the throttle position. Did you guys have good results with the SS voltage clamp?

btw- do any of you guys feel like the car pulls harder at near WOT than actual WOT?

-thanks for the tips~

Default I installed a clamp just after I installed the PES T28 kit back in Oct 2001

with no issues and have not removed it since. The key is setting the boost in the chip to exactly what you cap the boost sensor at.
