I have the trial for APR stage one and i have a 2004 1.8t cvt a4.

The gas milage is pretty bad. The average when i check on the car is like 15mpg. I honestly cannot remember how much the stock mpg was, but I believed it was much higher.

Is this normal? I know my car is faster, and I'm driving it faster, so i know that could be one of the reasons.

But in general, does the chip make the gas milage worse? I heard no, but it seems to...

I noticed my spirited driving mileage was worse but my casual driving (hwy) was great ~28mpg. I drive a short didstance to work and I don't flog the car I seem to avg ~18mpg non-hwy. How long have you had the chip now I read that it takes the car awhile to calibrate to your diving style once things are reset. So it may change in awhile, I did push the car when I had it installed in the beginning, mileage sucked. I would wait and watch for awhile.

Well, The apr stage 1 was a huge difference. Was kinda weird going back to the normal stock ecu. Felt like i went from cable modem back to dial up.. hehe

So I really want to get this, I'm just wondering if there are any negative aspects of it, except for the $800 cost. Will it lower the life the car? If so, by how much? I know I am taking a risk of damaging the car with anything I do, but exactly how big is this risk? I would ONLY be doing stage 1, and that's it.
