APR stage 3 A4 vs. MTM chipped TTRQ, place your bets :)
it was bound to happen one day, between Mike's stage 3 A4 and and our chipped 225 TTR So it did last Saturday.
Just a quick 4th gear jaunt to compare his new beast compared for the most part to an Audi tuned K04. The TTR was in 4th gear, about 4000 rpm (ok doing about 70mph). The road opened up and we took it. Note that gearing of the TTR is short, and having surprised an A6 2.7T one time, I knew Mike was in for a surprise.
So here we go. Mike was also in 4th gear. We glimpse towards each other, nod quickly and GO! The TTR K04 turbo spooled flawlessly as I knew it would! The rpms started to pick up quick, I can hear Mike's loud GT25 turbo whooosh, I mean loud! WHiiiiisshhh! as we are separated by one lane on a 4 lane highway. Then as I concentrated looking ahead and watching my tach, cuz I can't hear my engine, I shifted to 5th quickly at around 6500 rpm. The TTR had awesome acceleration, and Mike's whooshing sound is diminishing in loudness. But, now I can hear his Borla!! What The! By the time I shifted in 5th, he was a good two car lenghts AHEAD! It's over, power down, Mike's A4 is fast. It continually pulled over the TT in it's entire RPM range.
Here's the best part. On normal driving of the TTR, as Mike can attest when he drove the TTR that same day. When you stomp the gas pedal at 2nd gear, when crusing around 20mph, you have to count one thousand one...one thousand two, ok here we go as the turbo lag is more noticeable with the higher power differential of a chipped level versus no no boost level on the TTR. His A4, just feels like a bigger engine. Virtually no lag! And they say large turbos have more lag This system is well designed, Great job APR!

Awesome!!
Thanks for that, I really enjoy posts like that.
BTW, what are the specs on the TT? I am kind of considering getting one of those next.
They are 225 HP (flywheel) stock with dual intercoolers, right? What does the chip do for them? With a chip and intake/exhaust you are prob around 250 HP or more. What does a TT weigh? I think I saw a chipped 180 HP TT running solid 14s at the drag strip. Is the bigger brother a low 14 second car? BTW, the drag strip numbers are for relative straight-line perf, I realize it may not be the cars forte yadda yadda yadda, hehe.
Take care,

The TTRQ is the heaviest of the bunch, tipping the scales over 3400lbs...
I don't have exact numbers with me. The stock 225 hp roadster jaunts to 60mph in about 6.5 sec depending on car magazine Now with the chip which takes it at 250hp, 260 lb-ft torque flywheel, it feels like the car can make a 0-60 sprint under 6 seconds. And the chip makes quite a big difference in performance. I also did a quicky mod to the air box and it has a forge BPV.

According to Hoppen Motorsport's website:
The MTM chip will bump the hp to 255 and the torque to 272 for the 225hp hp tt.
(The weight of the TT roadster/quattro is close to 3500 lbs. The A4 quattro is 3200 to 3300 lbs, If my memory serves me.)
I've run 13.8@100 mph with APR stage III. I'm having clutch slippage with stage III+ so I don't have good numbers to post, currently.

I've been quoted a longer labor time to install a stage 3 on the TTR by a few more hours...
They said it was much tighter than the A4. I believe them anyway after spending some flashlight time with the TTR in the garage Since you have the A4, I'd say go for it

Hey does Jenny know you're draggin her car????
The KK's were the fuel again, eh? Nice story...
Oh, and my new GIAC chip is better than the old AMS (sorry Marc, it's true...) - yeah, well a 10hp gain but more torque. I'll tell ya for sure on Thrill Hill on 3/31 with DonutzRacing with lap times!
