Default apr stage 3 folks - ever had ur ehaust manifold gasket go...

and if so, was it covered by whomever did your installation or apr? did you use the same gasket or replace it with something a little sturdier?

I got stage 3 installed a month ago and am concerned that the gasket went so quickly. thanks.

Default Are you sure install was correct? What are the symptoms..

i know one leaky S3 manifold gasket that was caused by the driver backing into something concrete, and the shock from the exhaust hitting may have caused the leaking...did you hit anything recently? Realize that turbo/cat/exhaust is one rigid metal pole (for all intents and purposes) and its vunerable to trauma.

Im sure you could go with a replacement gasket from APR, just call em and talk to them. XR4Tic here might be able to recommend some aftermarket gaskets of high quality as well.

Cheers,
Sameer

Default noisier exhaust w/ slight rattling sound - coming from close to engine bay...

had a mechanic look at it who confirmed it was the gasket. i haven't hit anything, but the was just lowered with new springs and shocks, so with everything settling in maybe the exhaust got knocked a bit...?

Default more suggestions...

gaskets don't tend to blow out...i assume you have been running the APR software, not overboosting with a boost controller, anything like that? Mere settling of the suspension would not do it.

Peek under the car...everything look okay? Is the exhaust not on its hangers such as it might be stressing the turbo/manifold assembly?

Are you close to APR by any chance, where you can drive down and have someone take a look? Id suggest you email a guy named Yippers here, he is a old fart (nuthing but love!) S3 owner who is very helpful...he might have some tips, or places you can look for help

Cheers,
Sameer

Default Re: Exhaust manifold to the head or turbo?

Lawn mower sound?Increased lag?

Stick with the gasket APR uses.
Even torquing helps an make sure the surfaces arent warped and are flat.

Driving hard when engine cold also helps them blow out.

Look around all the edges and look for any cracks or maybe a little carbon pocking out.
