Default AquaMist Water Injection- any comments? (more)

Hi all. Curious if anyone had the aquamist system installed. I'd like some feedback on the reliability and performance gains possible. I'm currently running a 1.8t with a Garrett T25 turbo, Sparco FMIC, and Greedspeed software. I noticed someone in the registry with the setup on an APR stage 3 and e-mailed him but got no response..anyone? TIA,
Joe

Default i have tried to gt info as well about audis with it, but nobody here seems to know much about it

it is good for keeping cylinders clean and lowering intake temps, but if the water tank runs dry, without a cutout switch it will inject air and you could run lean and have a major detonation problem on your hands

Default It on the approved list..

Of things that really work. Almost all the WRC cars run it. SilverbulletS4 know the most about it, I'll be installing it in June, when it gets too hot. BTW, it won't inject air into your motor, it's got failsafes.<ul><li><a href="http://www.aquamist.co.uk">http://www.aquamist.co.uk</a</li></ul>

Default Rocket Fuel for your car, a 1960's OEM application

How can you possibly go wrong with a technology tested and proven for automotive use by the engineering power house of Oldsmobile?
see, e.g, http://www.inil.com/users/dlbrown/ofjet.htm<ul><li><a href="http://www.inil.com/users/dlbrown/ofjet.htm">http://www.inil.com/users/dlbrown/ofjet.htm</a</li></ul>

Default I Always Thought Water Injection Was a Bandaid?

If the chip tuner tunes the mixture correctly, than water injection shouldn't be necessary. Besides you have to make sure you run distilled or purified water so as not to corrode your internals.

I know the Fmax Honda and Nissan kits use Aquamist. My friends got one on his SE-R ... what exactly did you want to find out about the kit?

Default RI have NO idea where the person in the link got the idea...

That the olds F85 and Chevy Corvair were built off the same platform. No the Pontiac Tempest Did NOT have a rear transaxle (as claimed), and none of those mid-sized BOP cars (except of course the rear engined Corvair) had 4-wheel indepepdent suspension.

What an idiot.

Just goes to show that there is a LOT of misinformation available for free on the Internet.

Sorry for the rant. Grew up on 'Murican iron.

Default I beg to differ

Popular Mechanics says it has an independent rear suspension, and unless you say it has a live front axle, that makes it 4-wheel independent. Note also that this was the turning point in the movie "My Cousin Vinnie" that a Tempest had an independent rear suspension.

The article also alludes to the rear tranxaxle on page 5 with the "driveshaft spins even in neutral" bit. Keep searching on google, and you'll find it had a rear 2-speed transaxle, thus making a independent rear suspension pretty much a necessity.

Default Tell that to Cosworth.

After a certain boost threshold is reached, not even dumping extra fuel in the combustion chamber will prevent predetonation. If you have time, surf over to www.aquamist.co.uk and really read the material. If you do, you should be very interested in the air-to-air vs Aquamist comparison. Water injection can simulate below ambient intake temps, the very best FMIC's give 15-20' above ambient depending on boost used. It should be noted that most of us don't run our boost levels that the compression of the engine was designed for. That leave you with relatively high compression for the boost being used, which leave the chip tuner with no option but to run richer than necesary just to stave off predetonation, timing is also backed off. The use of WI gives better A/F ratios=more power, lower EGT=turbos live longer, full timing=more power, in cylinder cleaning=air flow better. Feel free to ask SilverbulletS4 if I've forgot anything.<ul><li><a href="http://www.aquamist.co.uk">http://www.aquamist.co.uk</a</li></ul>
