Default Audi's position on chip tuning.

I was checking out Audi's tech site and came across the following. Here's the link.

Even though APR, et al say their programming changes are not detectable, let the buyer beware.

anyone else having problems opening it? i can only see the title on that pdf file

Default Time to kill the lawyers again...

Based on the language, if I have a cell phone installed it would void the warrantee. But isn't the car prewired for cell phones ? Has the Legal Department ever met the designers ? What color is the sky in the Legal Department's world ???

Kinda broad. I think the term is "over-reaching".

Right now I play 4 wall. I used to play 3 wall until I had knee surgery 2 yrs. ago.

You'll either need a plug-in for your browser or download the file and open it with Adobe Acrobat reader.

Not quite. The key phrase is "damage or malfunctions which are the result of" etc. This means that they can only refuse warranty coverage if the problem is due to your cell phone. Of course, if they decide that the reason your engine decided to blow up was because of your cell phone, there is not much you can do...

This advisory is to remind Dealers that Audi will not reimburse any warranty claims relating to repairs of damage caused by the installation of non-genuine Audi parts into any Audi vehicle, including, but not limited to, "chip tuning" or other modifications of factory installed engine management systems.

The Limited New Vehicle Warranty does not cover damage or malfunctions which are the result of improper repair of the vehicle, installation of any Non-Genuine Audi part(s), that will alter the vehicle performance specifications from those set by the vehicle manufacturer, modifications to the vehicle (including the engine management system), accessories such as alarm systems or communication equipment, defects or failures resulting from the use of new parts not sold or approved by Audi, or used parts, or the resultant damage to associated parts or systems.
