Default Been working on this off & on for a few months now, here's some pics.....>

First shots, nice clean engine compartment & freshly ceramic coated hotside & dp. Re-routed starter power cable, with heat shielding. Secured catch can, & ignition module on wheel well liner. Overall just cleaned up the look. Braided lines for coolant to & from turbo are on thier way.

Third pic is of the redesigned wastegate. I wanted to try something different than running it off the manifold, since it was giving me problems. We'll see how it holds up.

Fourth pic is of the polished heat shield I've had, & never installed. Keep it? Ditch it?

Last pic, all the piping, painting gloss black. This is the first coat, and will need to be wetsanded & done again. Note the many uses of a basket of blown K03's ;-)

Default What was the idea on the WG? Is this the way you went to a stand alone WG?

I have no issues w/my Bosch piece on the DB manifold and I am running a lot of hp and torque?

Default The wastegate system was originally running right off a port.......

at the underside of the ATP manifold, then re-routed back into the dp. It was always coming loose, less than a credit card's thickness away from the engine mount bracket, and the boost line from the MBC was a bit longer than I'd like.

So, I blocked the port at the manifold, drilled a big hole in the plate on the dp that bolts to the turbo--to line up with the hole there for an internal wastegate setup. Then I ordered some pipe, did some creative cutting & welding. Once I was happy with it, I disassembled & sent it out for ceramic coating again.

I've always had the 35mm TIAL wastegate, & IMO it does a great job. I'm just trying something different. My car puts out a lot of torque & HP too, probably why that stuff is loosening up occasionally. This new design will allow me to get a wrench on things a little easier, and also eliminated 2 bolts.

Is your car done yet?

Default looking good mat....

gotta leave the heat sheild on for some bling factor...hehe

so on the old wastegate design, it only ran off one of the ports? what does the new one run off of?

btw, if you ever want to dump those blown K03's off

Default What would anyone want with these K03's???!??!!!

We've got a metal recycler coming by to get them soon. Actually, that whole basket and then some, will be going soon, so if you REALLY want them.......speak up & move 'em quick.

Old wastegate ran off the bottom of the #1 track of the manifold. It's all open space, and if the gases have an easier path other than going by the turbine blades, that's where they'll go. New route blocks that, and runs off the hole at the backside of the turbo housing. If it were to come as a T3 turbo with an internal wastegate system, this would be the same hole THAT wastegate would use. I just put a big hole on the dp plate, and piping on the other side to the TIAL, then re-routed back in. I can also re-do THIS current design, to block the re-entry into the exhaust, and run an open wastegate down to the ground or where ever.

That's where the fun & flames begin :-D
