Default Boost and cold weather...

Seeing that it's about 10 degrees outside how much boost can I expect to lose? I have a T-28 that spikes to about 21 PSI and settles to 17-18 PSI at WOT in 3rd gear. Is this normal?

I am thinking that it would normally spike to 23-25 PSI and then settle at 20 PSI.

Thanks.

Default apples to oranges, but in the minus 5 we had

up in NH over the weekend...I was seeing only about 16 lbs of boost. Then again I've got a different turbo/programming and I'm DBW. I was hitting about 20 psi back when it was in the teens and twenties.

Default Good enough comparo...I was just curious as to how much boost people were losing in the cold.

I will probably change most of my hoses and clamps spring time. Any recommendations for those? Samco?

Thanks.

Default Plain old 'merican vacuum hose works good, is cheap and readily available. The only silicone I have

is the short piece that runs just above the turbo to the APR intake hose (due to the heat of the turbo in that location). All the other hoses are just vacumm hose from NAPA or similar.

Colder air is already more dense, so you aren't really loosing boost, its just not needed to produce the same amount of power as it was in warmer ambient temperatures...

Default Same here. I have already replaced my vac lines with rubber hoses...

with great results.

I would like to use the expensive stuff for the high heat prone area which is what Yippers described.
