Default Boring Question About Brakepads

So I just changed out the brakepads on my truck for the first time --figured it was a good place to learn as I don't much care about it.

Either ways, was wondering if anyone can tell me how critical it is to change out the back pads at this time...and if I used enough of the 'brake quiet' crap.

This is a picture of the new pads vs. the old. These are off the front wheels. There's still about 1/4 of the pad left which suggests to me that the rear pads should be okay for some time yet...but I'm not sure.

And here's the picture with that brake quiet goo smeared all over them. Too much? Not enough? Just right?

And finally the finished product. Anything obviously screwed up? Seemed really easy, can't believe they charge $100 for that. It was more difficult getting the truck up on jack stands (I used the service jack).

Thanks for any help, suggestions, critisims etc.

Default Thanks

Actually the right pad was about 3/4 of the left pad. Also found out that the brake pads with wear sensors only fit on the inside of the rotor. OEM pads only had one wear sensor on the right wheel, but I started with the left wheel...which of course had no wear sensors, so I figured the right wheel must have one on inside and outside.

.....it was fun taking off the left side wheel, removing the outer brake pad, replacing it, etc...

Oh well, I won't make that mistake again.
